    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.equestrianpages.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1670" rel="nofollow">KP</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> A Horse That Has Killed Horses<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> March-08-2010 at 6:56pm<br /><br />Looking for some honest opinions, and if there are any legal advisors out there your input would be greatly appreciated.<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>A now 15 yr old mare has been 'outted' by some people that knew her years ago.&nbsp; When she was 3 she had to have a major surgery and then be stall bound.&nbsp; When she was turned out, she was turned into a too-small area for alot of horses, and no hay to chew on.&nbsp; Fights ensued.&nbsp; The 3 yr old mare killed another horse.&nbsp; (The horse was not hurt and had to be put down, the mare actually killed it.)</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Two weeks later the mare killed another horse that challenged her.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Since that time the horse has shown no more aggression than any other mare exhibiting mare-ish behaviors.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Question:&nbsp; should the owner of the facility where the mare is being boarded tell new boarders that this mare killed two horses years ago?&nbsp;&nbsp; If the owner does not tell them and a horse does perhaps get injured (as can always be the case) will the facility owner be liable?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; With dog laws it is usually the case that if you knew your dog had a history and did not tell then you would be liable.&nbsp; Not sure with horses.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>What are the legal issues of this situation?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; And what would you, as a horse owner bringing your horse in, think?&nbsp;&nbsp; Would you want to be told, or not?&nbsp;&nbsp; Serious situation here and would appreciate some serious answers.&nbsp; Thx Friends.</DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.equestrianpages.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1586" rel="nofollow">Eventer</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> NEED HELP!!!<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> March-08-2010 at 5:38pm<br /><br />ummm not that i know of he was eight when we bought him (now nine) but he has been well treated all his life so i dont think so... he is a quarter horse though and i've heard that they generally just&nbsp;dont like water but not sure if this is true??<DIV>he's ok around hoses like when we wash him he doesnt really like it but he's not scared of it or anything</DIV><DIV>we did water training last sat and sun and that went quite well he wouldnt go in the water on sat so i tried what a friend suggested i do and back him into the water, which we did and it worked! i was pretty happy with him because at the end he just walked into the water and on sun he walked in to we had a bit of trouble getting him to step down into the water, i ended up in the water in my (new!) leather jodpur boots asking him to come in and he did (but not after drenching me first!) so he has much improved and we have another comp this sun so hopefully he'l be alright i'l put a post telling you how it went :)</DIV><DIV>thanks for the suggestions :D</DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.equestrianpages.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1664" rel="nofollow">stablehand</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> NEED HELP!!!<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> March-08-2010 at 4:53pm<br /><br />Has he had any bad experiences around water before you got him?<br>How is he around hoses and pools ?<br>Maybe hose his legs or get him to a pool and swim him to get him use to the water.<br>If he refuses to go into the pool you could try wat we do with the racers cover his eyes to calm him and walk him into the water (we usually have two people leading one on either side of the horse) you may only have to do it a couple of times.<br>&nbsp; <br>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.equestrianpages.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1664" rel="nofollow">stablehand</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> School Gifted Project, on veterinary practices<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> March-02-2010 at 5:52pm<br /><br />Hi Riloveshorses I'm stablehand <br><br>I have worked at a racetrack for approx 4 years.<br><br>I would suggest that if you have a race track near by then go down there after school or get up extra early one morning and go down to the stables to not only talk to the trainer, manager or stablehands but talk to the vets themselves if you explain to them your situation then you should have no problems finding out what you want to know. They work 7 days a week because as you may or may not know horses need to be excersized every day twice a day and their stables cleaded, fresh water and fed twice a day. ( its usually 4am - 9am or 10am and 1pm to 4pm or 5pm)<br><br>You never know you may even be able to get some work experience with them which I know a few people have done around our way. You definately need to have a strong stomach because some of the injuries they get can be a real eye opener, it is also interesting not the same old thing day in day out like these people stuck in their 9 to 5 jobs walking around complaining all the time about how much they hate their jobs.<br><br>Hope I have been a bit helpful with the information I have given you good luck and let me know how you go.<img src="http://www.equestrianpages.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><img src="http://www.equestrianpages.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><br><span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by stablehand - March-02-2010 at 6:15pm</span>]]>

But the confidence and the riding ability&nbsp;is there all along the horse is just part of the equation, the horse and rider are a team and must work together with the right coaching. to be the best that they both can be.
